A brilliant speech by long-time Irish socialist and republican Bernadette Devlin McAliskey speaking out on why Scotland needs to vote for independence.

I had the honor of meeting her in Boston, MA back in 1986 when she was on tour.  Not only was she a wonderful guest, but she really ‘got’ the commonality of the Irish struggle for liberation and the African American struggle.  I remember when she first came to the USA in the late 1960s/early 1970s and identified with the Black Panthers!  So many Irish Americans were shocked.  But she understood history and there are few people who can put it together as can she.
